# Active Directory PowerShell Module

Active Directory security notes for Active Directory PowerShell Module, covering enumeration, Kerberos, credentials, ACL abuse, lateral movement, exploitation workflow, and validation steps.

### Objective

The Active Directory module allows you to use commands like:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```powershell
Get-ADDomain
Get-ADUser
Get-ADComputer
Get-ADDomainController
```

{% endcode %}

On a domain controller, this module is generally available by default.

On a classic Windows 10 machine, it is often not installed.

### Load domain information

On the domain controller:

```bash
Get-ADDomain
```

This command returns important information such as:

* the name of the domain;
* the SID of the domain;
* the functional mode of the domain;
* the forest;
* the primary domain controller;
* the infrastructure master;
* AD configuration information.

### Use the module on a machine without RSAT

The DLL can be retrieved from the DC:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```bash
C:/Windows/Microsoft.Net/assembly/GAC_64/Microsoft.ActiveDirectory.Management/v4.0_10.0.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35/Microsoft.ActiveDirectory.Management.dll
```

{% endcode %}

We then copy it to `WS02`, then import it:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```powershell
Import-Module ./Microsoft.ActiveDirectory.Management.dll
```

{% endcode %}

Then we can test:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```powershell
Get-ADDomain
```

{% endcode %}

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-df6f8940343be30bf005b7e63a7dd5947696fb56%2Fimage%20(3201).png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Alternative with PowerView

Without an Active Directory module, PowerView offers equivalent commands.

Obtain domain information:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```powershell
Get-NetDomain
```

{% endcode %}

Get the domain policy:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```powershell
Get-DomainPolicy
```

{% endcode %}

Display the `SystemAccess` section:

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```powershell
(Get-DomainPolicy)."SystemAccess"
```

{% endcode %}

This allows you to obtain information such as:

* password policy;
* account lockout;
* the maximum age of the password;
* domain security settings.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://hacking-notes.jord4n.pro/active-directory/enumeration/active-directory-powershell-module.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
