# Bypass de Travessia de Caminho com Byte Nulo e Validação de Extensão
### Travessia de caminho de arquivo, validação da extensão do arquivo com bypass de byte nulo
Este laboratório apresenta uma vulnerabilidade de path traversal ao exibir as imagens do produto. / A aplicação verifica se o nome do arquivo fornecido termina corretamente com a extensão esperada.
O objetivo é ler o conteúdo do **/etc/passwd** arquivo.
#### **Análise**
Se o caminho for fornecido diretamente
```bash
../../../../etc/passwd
```
A aplicação retorna um erro porque ela exige que o arquivo tenha a extensão **.jpg**.
Em versões mais antigas do PHP (anteriores a **5.3.4**), era possível usar um zero **byte (%00)** para contornar essa validação: / o mecanismo do PHP parava de ler o nome do arquivo no byte nulo, enquanto a aplicação continuava vendo uma extensão válida.
#### **Carga útil**
Adicione um byte nulo antes da extensão:
```bash
%00.jpg
```
O navegador ainda interpreta ".jpg", mas o PHP para em " /etc/passwd", o que permite ler o arquivo sensível.

../../../../etc/passwd%00.jpg
```
